Oliver Schluter, ATB, Germany
Dr Schlüter received his Ph.D. in food technology at the Technische Universität Berlin and has been Senior Scientist at Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB), Germany since 2003. He is the coordinator of the quality and safety of food and feed research program; vice-head of the Department of Horticultural Engineering and head of the ATB lab on “food hygiene”. His research focuses on emerging technologies in primary food production, food processing, and optimisation and innovation of processing steps along the food chain including non-destructive quality and safety monitoring. Dr. Schlüter has a more than 20 years expertise in nonthermal food processing technologies and more than 5 years in the area of insect-technology for food and feed. He is chair of the EFFoST Standing Committee on Career Development and Education, was member of the former Executive Committee of EFFoST (2012 – 2017), is Secretary of the Technical Board of CIGR Section VI: Bioprocesses (2015 – on-going), was member-at-large of IFT Food Engineering Division (2015 – 2017), and is in the editorial board of Innovative Food Science and Emerging Technologies, Journal of Insects as Food and Feed, and Heliyon. Since 2015 he is the Chairman/co-chairman of the annual INSECTA conference on edible insects with more than 250 participants in the years 2017 and 2018. Furthermore he is co-editor of the book entitled “Cold Plasma in Food and Agriculture”, Academic Press, Elsevier (2016).
