Alan Mackie

Dr. Pieter Verboven holds a PhD in Bioscience Engineering from the University of Leuven (KU Leuven). He is currently a Science2Business Research Manager at the same university bridging between strategic basic research, technological innovation development and industrial collaborations in the area of agrofood engineering and is embedded in the division MeBioS (Mechatronics, Biostatistics and Sensors). The group has a proven track record and leading expertise in computer aided design and engineering (CADE) for optimizing and innovating agrofood products and processes. To this end, he and his research team aim to improve -through modelling and simulation and novel experimental imaging techniques- understanding and linking of the dynamics of agrofood product biology, microstructure to process efficiency and product quality as affected by conditions and processing along the supply chain from farm to consumer. He coordinates the technology transfer platform CADcracker.
